Job Title: .Network Engineer/Architect

Performs design computations, compiles data, and completes elementary architectural assignments. Prepares project estimates and architectural plans as requested. Inspects structures in the field. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture and 6+ years of experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
This position will augment current NSD engineering activities. The ability of the candidate will determine their level of involvement and responsibilities. This position is for an advanced architect within the Network Service Design team, NSD. NSD works with other organizations within Comcast and external, to develop network connectivity designs for deployment. This process includes the following activities; network requirements gathering, collaboration with platform* owners and labs, documentation of solutions, & provide ongoing support from field trial and on through sustaining efforts. The individual in this position needs to be able to work cross functionally throughout the organization in order to support network connectivity at the edge and through the network. Experience driving change within large ISP networks required.
Advanced understanding & working knowledge of:
- Router HW architecture as it relates to packet flow thru the device
- Juniper MX
- Cisco ASR
- IP routing protocols
- Access lists / routing policy
- QOS mechanisms and implementation
- Video transport technologies; Multicast, IP unicast
